Jack’s repeated attempts to posture as a “conservative” are now undeniably exposed for what they are: political theater, carefully crafted for primary votes while his real loyalties remain with the Democratic establishment.
Fields says, without hesitation:
Fields doesn’t speak in vague speculation; he claims firsthand knowledge of Jack’s political games, including a recent diner meeting where Ciattarelli allegedly sought counsel and comfort from Murphy’s top advisor.
“He’s not like a huge MAGA person… a lot of it is just political theater. And Ciattarelli has to, like, do a lot of acting.”
That alone is a devastating admission — but it gets worse.
According to Fields, Jack privately refers to Donald Trump as a “charlatan” and a “fraud,” despite recently accepting his endorsement in a calculated move to manipulate Republican voters. Fields continues:
“He has to pretend to be a Trumpy conservative, but he’s not. He’s actually very moderate… But he has to act like a staunch conservative to win the primary.”

“They [Trump and Ciattarelli] really don’t like each other… I talked to him directly. I saw him at the diner last week. It’s all an act. He can’t stand the guy.”
The duplicity continues when Fields casually reveals Ciattarelli’s true policy positions:
“He’s pro-choice, for example. He’s not going to say that on the campaign trail, but he’s pro-choice. He believes in stronger restrictions for guns.”

New Jersey deserves better than a man who says one thing to Republican voters and another to Democratic operatives behind closed doors. If Jack Ciattarelli is willing to meet with Governor Murphy’s inner circle and confide in them, if he’s willing to adopt Democratic talking points and deceive the base that made him relevant — then he’s not a Republican.
He’s a Democrat. And it’s time we treated him like one.
