TRENTON, NJ — On the issue of life, one candidate raises above the rest in New Jersey’s 2025 Gubernatorial Race. In a crowded field of ten candidates (both Democrats and Republicans) only one has received the endorsement of New Jersey Right to Life and National Right to Life: Bill Spadea.
As the race heats up, voters are looking for a candidate who reflects their values, particularly on the issue of life. While the majority of New Jerseyans regardless of political affiliation differ on the nuances regarding abortion, there is broad agreement that taxpayer-funded abortions and turning New Jersey into an international abortion capital of the universe, as Governor Murphy envisions, is not what the people want.
Marie Tasy, the Executive Director of New Jersey Right to Life, recently announced her organization’s endorsement of Spadea, praising his unwavering pro-life stance (InsiderNJ). Additionally, National Right to Life, the nation’s leading pro-life organization, has thrown its support behind Spadea (New Jersey Globe).
The polls are in
Despite New Jersey’s reputation as a deep-blue state, most voters do NOT support Phil Murphy’s radical pro-abortion policies. Even those who identify as pro-choice understand the dangers of tax-payer funded, unrestricted, abortion access up to the moment of birth, and Murphy’s push to make New Jersey an abortion destination for out-of-state and even international visitors. This extreme agenda does not reflect the common sense attitude of most NJ primary voters, nor does it align with what the majority of Americans want. According to an SBA America poll in 2023, 78% of respondents, including 67% of self-identified “pro-choice voters,” oppose the use of tax dollars to support international abortion services. In January of 2023, a Marist poll revealed that 60% of Americans oppose the use of taxpayer dollars for abortion services within the United States, and 78% oppose funding abortions abroad. This opposition spans various demographics, including:
34% of Democrats
38% of self-identified pro-choice voters
59% of Independents
These figures suggest a broad consensus against using public funds for abortion services, reflecting a desire for more moderate abortion policies in NJ. In contrast to public sentiment, perennial gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli has expressed support for Murphy’s radical and unpopular abortion policies. During a recent debate at Ryder University on February 4, 2025, Ciattarelli was given opportunity to moderate his extremism but he instead affirmed his pro-Murphy position, stating, “I support a woman’s right…” This stance aligns with current state laws that permit taxpayer funded abortions up to the moment of birth and partial birth abortions for anyone, from anywhere, in the world. The clear data highlights the vast disconnect between the electorate’s views on issues of life and the entrenched political elites like Ciattarelli, who has been rumored to be receiving dark money funding from national abortion mills seeking to maintain a foothold in NJ for the sake of their elicit profits.
The Path Forward
As these polls reflect, protecting unborn babies and their mothers is not a partisan issue, but rather a moral one. Public opinion is with Spadea as the only candidate to take a strong, unapologetic stand for life, the choice for pro-life primary voters is clear.
The question now is: will New Jersey choose to uphold the value of life, or will it continue down a path of radical extremism? Informed voting will be crucial in ensuring that New Jersey’s leadership reflects the values and preferences of its residents, particularly on pivotal issues such as the sanctity of life and the ethical use of taxpayer funds.
